The Quakers
Argenta Friends Press is the non-profit service of a tiny Quaker meeting.  The Quakers, or the Religious Society of Friends, grew out of seventeenth century England, but we’ve grown and changed over the years.  Friends have no dogma, and are known instead for testimonies such as simplicity, peace and truthfulness.  Two hundred years ago, we were working on the elimination of slavery.  Now, some of us are working to transform our justice systems.  Visitors are welcome at Argenta's Quaker meetingFor an introduction to the Quakers and our testimonies, or to contact Quakers, go to The Quakers.

The Canadian Quaker Pamphlet Series
We publish a series of pamphlets that relate to Quaker philosophy and interests.  That means, of course, that the pamphlets cover an unusual range of topics:
criminal justice
the ecology of flush toilets
our response to the new economic world order
“witness” in the lives of individual Quakers
and lots more!

May we send you a pamphlet? To see résumés, excerpts and ordering information, go to The Canadian Quaker Pamphlet Series.

Other Publications
We publish, print or distribute other pamphlets and magazines.  Some are Quaker-related, some are not. You might be interested in:
• One of our free pamphlets about Quakers.
• Handsome stationery with a discreet fern design.
The Canadian Friend. A magazine with information and insight from Canadian Quakers, published by the national Quaker organisation.

The Smallholder.   This small magazine is “an exchange of ideas and information of interest to country people”. Almost everything in it is written by its readers, and it’s very low tech!

Where’s Argenta? What are the Kootenays?
Argenta Friends Press — and the Argenta Quaker Meeting — are located in a spectacular setting: the mountains, lakes, forests and homesteads of the Kootenays, in southeastern British Columbia, Canada.  For now, our Kootenay pages have a few nice pictures.  Soon, we hope to develop a larger section of this website with photos, information and lots of links about the Kootenays.
